Bringing Baby Home

We recently redesigned the web site for Bringing Baby Home (BBH), a non-profit in Seattle which focuses on strengthening relationships within families. BBH was saddled with an outdated web site they could not update anymore, having lost contact with the original developer. They needed a new web presence and look ASAP.
With time and budget a top consideration, we took a pre-designed template chosen by BBH and customized it to suit their requirements and branding. We installed the powerful (and free for its basic version) Kentico Content Management System so BBH could manage and update content themselves. We also implemented a Javascript slideshow on the home page, YouTube videos, and the Google Custom Search Engine.
We enjoyed giving BBH a brand new look!
Seth Godin, one of my favorite marketing gurus, recently posted a list of questions to ask before you redo your website.
I think they’re important questions both clients and developers should think about before embarking on any sort of redesign. In many cases a redesign requires more thought and analysis than a new site, simply because you have an idea of what’s working and what’s not.
The old mantra “measure twice, cut once” definitely applies to web development.
If everyone took the time to think about these questions there would be a lot more clients happy with their web sites and a lot more consultants happy with their clients.
